The Marijuana Reform Party of New York (medical marjiuana initiative) is focusing on medical marijuana as the main issue for their 2002 election campaign to get 50,000 votes, thereby becoming an official ballot-line political party in New York State. Their goal is to get the state legislature to establish a comprehensive medical marijuana program for New York. As a first step, they are lobbying the New York City Council to pass a resolution that calls upon the state legislature (and governor) to enact appropriate legislation.

The latest trial of Usak anarchists was held in Izmir
SSC (State Security Court) today. According to the
initial information, the next trial will be held on
25th of July. As u may have known all of the five
anarchists were released in the previous trial. This
time the attorney has changed his report and claimed
the anarchists according to another "Article #". It
seems that the court is observing the "attitude" of
Turkish anarchists. In this case an international
campaign needs to be necessary. We'll inform u later
on...

Pim Fortuyn, the maverick right-wing politician who had just made his come-uppance in Dutch politics with statements such as "The Netherlands is full" (i.e. no more immigrants), has been shot dead by a guy in a baseball-cap around 6.00 pm tonight. Fortuyn had just been doing a radio-interview in Hilversum. The shooting sent shockwaves through Dutch society. Official confirmation of his death has yet to be given, but the newsmedia assume from the observable evidence that he is in fact dead.

Press in Monroe ME. On April 1, Bank One and its subsidiary, American
National Bank, seized $1.2 million belonging to 85 publishers including
Common Courage. On April 23, the bank demanded publishers hand over the same
amount again. It's a demand a bank might make of any business caught in this
situation, not just publishers. Bank One is the nation's fifth largest bank
holding company.

nolympics writes "April 25, 2002: A truck carrying humanitarian aid from the United States to Jenin refugee camp has been turned back by the residents of the camp. The aid, including baby clothes and toys, was being unloaded and the boxes were marked as ‘a gift from the United States’. Some of the goods were clearly manufactured and produced in Israel. One man pointed to the remains of two missiles fired from an Apache helicopter and stated that “this is the biggest gift we got from America.” A delivery of tents was also refused.

Despite the utter devastation and desperate need of the people, they are still able to make a political statement to the world.
Children have become orphans, women are widowed, homes detroyed and America is complicit in this destruction and killing. The act of refusing this aid has empowered the people of the camp who, despite everything, wish to retain their dignity.

that hybrid powertrains and hydrogen fuel cells are the future of
automotive propulsion.'

[Christine] Sloane [GM’s director of technology strategy
development] said, "The vision of a hydrogen economy and fuel cell
vehicles is absolutely a compelling vision, and it’s not a vision for
2050 or 2040 or 2020. It’s a vision we will drive and try to make

The Only Truth About Jenin is the Cover-Up

On the morning of Wednesday 10 April, reports began to emerge from
the Jenin refugee camp in the extreme north of the Israeli-occupied
West Bank that its Palestinian defenders had run out of ammunition
and were thus no longer able to resist the Israeli offensive that
began on 2 April. While this appeared to put a conclusion to the
most furious battle to be waged on Palestinian soil since 1948,
subsequent developments indicated otherwise. As night fell, one of
the camp's few remaining field commanders issued a dramatic, live
appeal to the world through the Qatari Al-Jazeera television
network, in which he stated that the Israeli military was summarily
executing defenseless fighters as it advanced and was refusing to
accept the surrender of those still alive.
