Zapatistas Renew Struggle with Anger and Fire.

9th Anniversary of Armed Uprising Marked by Biggest
Mobilization So Far.

by Ramor Ryan

San Cristobal de las Casas, January 1 2003.

Defying their critics who charge they are divided and disintegrating,
the Zapatistas mobilised their forces today, mustering the largest
and most militant demonstration seen in San Cristobal since the armed
uprising 9 years ago. As many as 20,000 masked militants of the EZLN
descended on the town from all corners of Chiapas armed with machetes
and lighting huge bonfires around the central plaza and surrounding
streets. There were no injuries, and little damage to property, but
the feisty rebels demonstrated in no uncertain terms that, on the 9th
anniversary of the uprising they are still organised, still militant
and still enraged.

The True Story of Diaz school raid

by alessandro mantovani (trad by blicero, some further editing by hydrarchist)

The True Story of the Diaz School Raid

The responsibility of head police officers for the raid on the school emerge clearly from the latest investigations and interrogations of the attorneys in Genoa. The Roman riot police are responsible for 61 badly injured people, and leading officers are being hold responsible for perjury and providing false evidence - the fake molotov cocktails bottles "found" in the Diaz school: they all risk being kicked out of the police force. Two vicequestori brought them [the molotovs] to Caldarozzi and Luperi, vice-captains of the SCO [Servizio Centrale Operativo - Central Operative Service] and Gratteri from the anti-terrorism division. La Barbera and Murgolo were there but didn't notice anything. And behind the scenes of the "spy" and "Judas" we can see the shadow of the real head of the riot police, Valerio Donnini, father of the special antiriot unit.

The Wireless Commons Manifesto

We have formed the Wireless Commons because a global wireless network is within our grasp. We will work to define and achieve a wireless commons built using open spectrum, and able to connect people everywhere. We believe there is value to an independent and global network which is open to the public. We will break down commercial, technical, social and political barriers to the commons. The wireless commons bridges one of the few remaining gaps in universal communication without interference from middlemen and meddlers.

DaaaihLoong writes "Melanie Schmid, #5992221, an inmate at Oregon's Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, is being harassed and intimidated by prison officers after allegedly reporting an inmate-officer relationship. Although Melanie did not blow the whistle, she has been subjected to unwarranted cell-ins as well as threats of disciplinary reports and segregation by CO Heflin (the officer in question), CO Jackson and others. Although Melanie has reported this intimidation to Captain Dickenson and Superintendent Palmateer, Heflin continues to work on the unit and the harassment continues.

Below is an excerpt from Melanie about the harassment:

"I had just moved back to H Unit. The inmate, Robb, came up on me all hostile and said, "Oh, I hear you wrote kytes on me and Heflin for having an affair." At first I laughed at her, then said, "If you're not doing anything, why are you tripping?" She continued on and on about how nothing could be proven.

Then, the male guard, CO Heflin, was removed from the unit. I was then told to report to the captain's office where I was informed that I had no disciplinary reports in over 2 years. (I can go to the Parole Board every three years provided I have no disciplinary action against me. I am scheduled to appear before the Parole Board in October 2003 if I continue to stay out of trouble)
