FDP food working group writes "Are you coming to Festival del Pueblo May 1st-5th in Boston? If you’re coming and want to help, here’s a fun activity: liberate food!! The Festival del Pueblo food working group needs your help to feed the many participants coming to the festival, what better way to get involved then by using your local monstrous food chain to help feed activists, community members, performers, your mom and everyone else who is coming to Boston for the May Day event of the century! Here’s what we need:

---veggie burgers, veggie dogs and other veggie "meat"
–--canned vegetables
--avacado
---plastic (or paper) utensils and plates
---Cumin (lots of it)
---condiments; ketchup, mustard, relish, soy sauce…
---sour cream (please use care when getting this

All food can be brought to the Welcoming Center, which is the Lucy Parsons Center, 549 Columbus Ave. Please bring all food by May 3rd. Any questions? Email freefoodforall@hotmail.com for more info. So come with what you can and prove that we don't need to be fed, we can feed each other!"

Whirl-Mart is a worldwide consumption awareness ritual which happens on a monthly basis and will coincide with Big Business Day in April. Participants gather at superstores and form a chain of people who push empty carts through the aisles. A Whirl may seem to be no more than an absurd and chaotic infiltration of peoples‚ usual shopping space, but it is symbolic as well. It is symbolic of the will to resist consumerism and advertising, despite being saturated in it mentally and physically (as one is inside a superstore). As a form of protest, it is unique because of its silent meditative qualities.

Kate writes "Independent online publication, theblowup.com, will be publishing its
first hardcopy issue this summer and is currently recruiting anarchists - of
every age, race, gender, background - to participate in a portrait project.
On a soon to be specified date in late April, theblowup would like to conduct
an editorial photo session with approximately six willing participants and
ask each person for a short comment to be published under his or her image.
Ideally we would like to represent anarchists in the most prolific way
possible and allow subjects to speak for themselves. The nature of this
project intends neither to glamorize nor deem ironic the cause and politics
of the anarchist movement; it seeks rather to capture individuals in a formal
setting one might traditionally associate with 'established' heroes. We hope
to shed some light on the heroism of today's anarchist movement, as
demonstrated in the recent WEF protest here in New York, even if many of its
members might prefer to remain anonymous.
All transportation, meals and production costs will be paid, out of pocket,
by me (editor or cofounder of theblowup). There are no requirements
regarding dress or appearance - only that the project be taken seriously and
best represent this cause and the people taking part in it. This publication
is not for profit and will, most likely, put theblowup media in debt!
However, we are eager to proceed with this endeavor and would seriously
appreciate interest, response, suggestions and so forth. Send all questions

of this project will be provided."

A five-day-long gathering with anarchist bookfair, free school, community carnival, concerts, radical sports tournament, marches, demonstrations, and direct actions.

As yuppies increase the cost of living in our neighborhoods; as greedy landlords raise our rents and drive us out of our homes; as the police enforce racist policies, persecuting and caging like animals our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters; while politicians turn a blind eye...

The voice of the people calls out demanding justice!

     As businessmen exploit "illegal" immigrants who live under the constant fear of deportation or worse; as we get paid less even though everything costs more; as we are forced to waste our youth and our old age in the indignity of shit jobs; while even union officials turn a blind eye...

We unite our voices to better our lives!

     From the workers who died in the 1880s fighting for the eight hour work day, from our Latin American brothers and sisters who have fought so long for freedom, from the Black liberation soldiers who died victims of racism, from the immigrants of all countries, legal or illegal, who rise up and demand that they not be shoved aside...

Two visiting speakers from Havana, Armando Nova Gonzales of the Center for Studies of the Cuban Economy, and Luis Marcelo Yera of the Cuban National Institute of Economic Research, will lecture on and discuss the influence of the United States writer and reformer, Henry George (1839–1897), on the Cuban writer and revolutionary, José Martí (1853–1895).

B.U.R.N. TC 2002: Building Urban Resistance Networks
in the Twin Cities April 26-May 1

The BURN gathering is a chance for radical activists in the Twin
Cities to gather and work together to buld a stronger community
of resistance. Taking place at Babylon Gallery, the 5 day event
will include a film fest, concert, skill shares, panels, an anarchist book fair and much much more. We are asking a sliding scale donation of $1-20 to cover costs for the event. No one will

Third Annual Chicago Anarchist Film Festival

May 10 – 12, 2002, Call for submissions by April 15

The Third Annual Chicago Anarchist Film Festival, part of
the Matches and Mayhem events, is looking for submissions.
The Festival will be over the weekend of May 10-12.
Submission deadline is April 15.

During the next few months, we will develop another great
program of recent and rare works by and/or about anarchists.
The work of curating the Anarchist Film Festival has inspired
a new project to promote screenings of anarchist films here
and around the country. This new project, the Anarchist
Video Library (AnViL) is also seeking submissions of recent
and past works for our lending and permanent collections.

In addition, AnViL is sponsoring a feast for filmmakers where
anarchist filmmakers can network, discuss their work and the
works in the festival, and talk about the importance of forging
an anarchist film culture.

Critical Mass Rides for More Gardens

This is it, the big one. Strap a flower pot to your head and hop on your bike or your blades and come out and join us! This will be a moving celebration to draw attention to our community gardens. Starting with the Radical Rockettes and ending with a huge musical after party. The eclectic musical jam will be at El Paradiso Garden, located on 5th St. between avenues C and
D. There will also be a potluck, so bring food to share. For help
