autonomarc writes "On the media's coverage of the Washington DC protests against the IMF and Israel’s occupation of the Palestinian territories, speeches were given by various activist and progressive groups, such as Palestinian and African-American nationalist groups, the AFL-CIO, the International Action Center (IAC), and A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now To Stop War And End Racism). Both IAC And A.N.S.W.E.R. are Stalinist front groups for the Workers World Party, which supports the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989 and the Soviet invasions of Hungary 1956 and Czechoslovakia 1968. Many of the speakers chanted “Free, Free Palestine”, held portraits of Yasser Arafat, and the audience began repeating the chants with fervor and enthusiasm. The rhetoric in the speeches were typical Leftist drivel, entirely non-rational and endemic of mob mentality, ingrained authoritarian mindsets, and the complete absence of rational discussion and argumentation, critical thinking skills, and non-violent communication.

Louis Lingg writes "The liberal Israeli paper Ha'aretz has posted a profile of and interview with French extreme right-nationalist and presidential candidate Jean-Marie Le Pen: Le Pen ultimate by Adar Primo.

Equally disturbing: Le Pen's victory: The Beginning of the End of the Jewish Post-War Ascendancy?-- a rant by Israeli journalist Israel Shamir posted at the Palestine Chronicle. Shamir argues that Le Pen's surprising electoral upset was due to French fears of a 'Judeo-Nazi occupation.'

On a-infos the French syndicalists of Cercle Social proclaim the big winner to be abstentionism, and rather than a vote for Chirac to defeat Le Pen, they urge a General Strike."

April 1, 2002—Critics of the US war machine frequently cite U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower's seminal speech in which he uncannily predicted the threat the "US military industrial complex" would pose to America and the world.

In 1961, Eisenhower, a retired U.S. Army general who led the allied invasion of Germany in WWII, uttered these prescient words, " . . . In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together . . ."

If only the citizenry had listened.

War Resisters League Protests Mid-East War

It is time to stop speaking of "violence" in the Middle East and to begin to call what is happening by its right name: war. The long and brutal repression by the state of Israel of the urgent Palestinian demand for independence has escalated into all-out war.

Louis Lingg writes "Business consultant in Network Analysis Valdis Krebs has posted (as a PDF) 'Mapping Networks of Terrorist Cells,' an examiniation of the network of the 19 hijackers involved in the 9/11 attack.

Social Network Analysis 'is the mapping and measuring of relationships and flows between people, groups, organizations, computers or other information/knowledge processing entities.'

Social Network Analysis has long been applied by prosecuters in mapping fraud and criminal conspiracy cases. Valdis advocates use of this tool as a preventative measure by law enforcement and intelligence agencies while acknowledging the difficulties in mapping covert networks."

Louis Lingg writes "National Academy Press has posted a pre-publication draft of 'IDs--Not That Easy: Questions About Nationwide Identity Systems,' a report generated from a study conducted by the Computer Science and Telecommunications Board (CSTB) of the National Research Council.

The report 'aims to highlight some of the significant and challenging policy, procedural, and technological issues presented by such a system, with the goal of fostering a broad, deliberate, and sophisticated discussion among policymakers and stakeholders about whether such a system is desirable or feasible.'

The report examines policy considerations, including benefits and drawbacks, as well as the technological challenges faced in implementing a nationwide identity system."

Crack Team Hunts 'Zombie' Corporations

August 28, 2065

NEW YORK--A U. S. Treasury Department spokesperson confirmed
Wednesday the existence of an elite team of economists,
financial experts, and government prosecutors dedicated to
hunting down and eliminating zombie corporations. "The threat
posed by zombies is quite real," explains the unidentified
Treasury spokesperson. "Zombie companies have been
terrorizing the Wilshire 5000 for long enough. We've assembled a
dedicated search-and-destroy team. The days of the zombies are
numbered."

The Isle Of Polyphemus

Wole Soyinka (Nigeria) autodafe

It was a startling image, unexpected and unsolicited but, there it was, instantly replete. Incisive, summative, it offered itself as an
irresistible metaphor that Monday afternoon, our first full day in
Ramallah, at the checkpoint where the road had been cut, and dwellers of, and visitors to that city were obliged to disembark from their vehicles, cross the checkpoint on foot, and take up a different transportation on the other side of the guttered road. A raucous, potentially explosive junction where traders had set up an instant market, mostly in fruits, snacks and refreshing drinks. A young man in a bizarre colourful outfit, with a makeshift bandolier in which plastic cups were tucked for rapid dispensation of his ware observed my fascination and offered me a drink. I had not changed any money so I could not even afford one if I wished -- as I patiently explained to him.
But that did not bother him in the least. He had decided that I should have a drink, and he doled it out, free of charge.

Jason Adams, "Nonwestern Anarchisms:

Rethinking the Global Context"

"The future of anarchism must be appraised within a global context; any attempt to localize it is bound to yield a distorted outcome. The obstacles to anarchism are, in the main, global; only their specifics are determined by local circumstances." -- Sam Mbah
