The KN0W_DUMP is a list of usernames and passwords for proprietary
knowledge databases, currently inclduding Lexis-Nexis, ProQuest and
Arden Shakespeare. It is an anonymous, secure resource residing on the
Freenet . The KN0W_DUMP provides proxied,
anonymised access to otherwise 'enclosed' sources of information.

2/ WHY DOES THE KN0W_DUMP EXIST?

The anonymous creators of the KN0W_DUMP deplore the arrant practice of
proprietising knowledge by restricting access to it, and limiting or
eliminating 'fair use' through abusive national and international acts
of legislation. Unfortunately such commodification of knowledge is
central to the the 'tertiary' or 'knowledge' economy. We must be
concerted in our efforts to oppose it and maintain free public access to
our shared intellectual resources.

On our side is the fact that digital information, whilst not 'wanting'
to be 'free', does leak readily across imposed boundaries. The KN0W_DUMP
offers maximal enjoyment of this leakiness.
