En estos momentos, a las 22:15 [del viernes] queremos reportar, desde la redacción de Espacio Autogestionario, los siguientes hechos: Se están dando disturbios generalizados en la zona metropolitana de Caracas, concretamente podemos decir lo siguiente:

At this monent, at 22:15 (Friday) we want to report, from the editing [desk] of Espacio Autogestionario, the following facts: there are general disturbances in the Metropolitan district of Caracaqs, we can say the following concretely:

a.. La autopista Caracas-La Guaira se encuentra cerrada debido a que seguidores del Presidente democrático de Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, han manifestado por el Golpe de Estado que se vivió el 11 de Abril de 2002 en el país.

The Highway Caracas/LaGuaira is closed because the Democratic President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, demonstrated against the coup that occurred on April 11, 2002 in this country.

b.. El Centro Comercial Trapichito y la zona comercial de Guarenas, en la zona metropolitana de Caracas fueron saqueados como consecuencia de los disturbios que se han producido.

The Commercial Center, Trapichito and the comercial zone of Guarenas, in the metropolitan zone of Caracas were sacked as a result of the disturbances produced.

c.. En la zona del Oeste de la Ciudad, se ha escenificado un cacerolazo, que todavía no termina, con escaramuzas y disparos, en protesta por el Golpe de estado que depuso al presidente democrático del país. Ruperto Lugo, Lídice, La Pastora y Manicomio están bajo el cacerolazo y escaramuzas fuertes. Atacaron la estación policial de ProPatria. La Avenida San Martín y la principal de Antemano se encuentran cerradas con barricadas, escaramuzas y cacerolazos.

In the Western zone of the city there was a "cacerolazo" that is continuing, with skirmishes and shooting, protesting the coup that deposed the contry's democratic president. [The Barrios of] Ruperto Lugo, Lídice, La Pastora y Manicomio are under a "cacerolazo" and strong skirmishes. They have attacked the ProPatria Police Station. The San Maring Ave. and the principal ave. of Antemano are closed with barricades, skermishes and "cacerolazo."

d.. La Zona Central del 23 de Enero se encuentra bajo un fuerte cacerolazo, escaramuzas y en estos momentos un helicóptero del Ejército sobrevuela sus inmediaciones.

The Centra zone of January 23 is under strong carcerolazo, skirmishes and at this moment an Army helicopter is surveying the area.

e.. En horas de la tarde en el Km 0 de la carretera panamericana, grupos de manifestantes protestaban por lo que consideran que está sucediendo con el secuestro del presidente, negándose rotundamente a reconocer la versión de que el presidente Chávez habría renunciado.

During the afternoon on KM 1 of the Panamerican Highway, groups of demonstrators are protesting what they belive is happening with the kidnapping of the President, they catigorically refuse to accept the version that President Chaves has resigned.

f.. Desde la madrugada de hoy se han realizado una serie indiscriminada de allanamientos a casas de destacados funcionarios del Gobierno del Presidente Chávez, lo que ha obligado a que la mayoría de ellos, incluyendo a miembros de la Asamblea Nacional, se encuentren escondidos, refugiándose de esta escalada represiva. Hasta esta hora los allanamientos no cesan pues la supuesta finalidad es desarticular los Círculos Bolivarianos.

Since daun today there have been a series of indiscriminate incursions against the homes of outstanding functionaries of the President Chavez's Government, this forced the majority of them, including members of the National Assembly, into hiding, in refuges from this growing repression. Until this moment, the incursions dont end since their supposed end is disabel the Bolivarian Circles.

g.. Los distintos medios que reportan visiones diferentes han desaparecido de la escena, tales como el canal 8, radio nacional, y las distintas páginas que desde Internet intentaban respaldar al Gobierno del Presidente Chávez.

The diverse medias who report different versions [of events]such as Channel 8, the Narional Radio and the various Internet pages who were trying to support the Government of President Chavez, have disappeared from the scene.

HASTA ESTE MOMENTO NO HA APARECIDO EL PRESIDENTE CHÁVEZ RENUNCIANDO PÚBLICAMENTE, POR LO QUE NOS SUMAMOS A LAS VOCES DE QUIENES DICEN QUE EL MISMO SE ENCUENTRA SECUESTRADO, SIN POSIBILIDAD DE EXPRESARSE.


AS OF THIS MOMENT PRESIDENT CHAVES HAS NOT APPEARED TO RENOUNCE PUBLICALLY, FOR WHICH REASON WE ADD OURS TO THE VOICES THAT ARE SAYING THAT HE IS KIDNAPPED, WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF EXPRESSING HIS WILL.
