Croatians Plan "Another World is Possible" Conference

Zagreb Conference, "Another World Is Possible!"
April 18, 19 and 20, 2002
"Another World Is Possible" is an initiative founded by individuals from different groups and NGOs*. The manifestation organized by the initiative will include a conference which will cover many topics concerning economic globalisation and its consequences as well as alternatives. The conference will be held on April 18, 19 and 20, 2002 on the premises of the Faculty of Political Sciences (Zagreb, Lepusiceva 6) and multimedia center m.a.m.a. (Zagreb, Preradoviceva 18). Participants of the conference will be different scientists, scholars, professors and journalists. At this moment (April 3, 2002) the following speakers already confirmed their participation:
Prof. Boris Kagarlitsky, Russia: "Emerging alternatives"
D. Muvrin: "Organic farming offers new possibilities"
A. Grubacic, Belgrade: "PARECON - participatory economy"
Prof. M. Jost: "Genetic engineering in agriculture"
D. Plecko: "Local community in solving local problems: the case of Samobor"
V. Lay, "Croatia and genetically modified organisms"
I. Malbasic, Bankwatch Network, Budapest: "World Bank and reconstruction of
the Balkans"
L. Gabriel, anthropologist and journalist, Vienna: "The Porto Alegre process
and the Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC)"
B. Horvat, Ph.D.: "Self-government"
Prof. A. Dajkovic, USA: "Political economy and ideology of global
militarism"
Prof. Z. Puhovski: "NATO?"
Prof. V. Golubovic: "Another world is possible - with revolution?"
This will be a round table conference where each participant will present his/her case within 15min. time limit. Discussions can take place after the presentations.
