Decade of Dissent: The 10-Year Celebration for the Institute for Anarchist Studies

Friday, February 10, 2006, 7 p.m.

at the Brecht Forum, New York City

Dear friends and supporters, old and new,

The Institute for Anarchist Studies (IAS) warmly
invites you to "Decade of Dissent: The 10-Year
Celebration for the Institute for Anarchist Studies."
Since 1996, the IAS has been promoting critical
scholarship on social domination and reconstructive
visions of a free society. Through grants, events,
journals, and other projects, we have contributed to
anarchist scholarship, helped build a community of
support for present-day anti-authoritarian projects,
and renewed the long-term commitment for the future.
We hope you will gather with us to celebrate this
wonderful occasion.

Please join us for food, conversation, drinks, and
socializing. This event is a fund-raising event, of
course, so bring your checkbooks or cash. But it is
also a fantastic opportunity for networking,
socializing, and reaffirming our dedication to
critical engagement and radical social change now and
for years to come.

The evening begins at 7:00 p.m., and includes a full
Indian meal (with meat and vegetarian dishes) served
at approximately 8:00 p.m. Board members will provide
updates about the IAS and our activities, including
the Renewing the Anarchist Tradition Conference in
Vermont, recent grant recipients, and upcoming issues
of our theoretical journal, "Perspectives on Anarchist
Theory." Additionally, we invite you to share
information about your projects and activities.

Your sliding scale donation of $10-$25 includes dinner
and coffee, and there will also be an affordable cash
bar for beer and wine. And again, please bring along
your checkbook or cash to this fund-raiser in order to
support this year's group of radical scholars working
to develop the theoretical tools necessary to build a
just and free society.

Please RSVP by Tuesday, February 7th to
info@anarchist-studies.org, and feel free to forward
this invitation to people you think might also enjoy
this festive evening. We look forward to seeing you
there!

Cindy Milstein and Rob Augman,
for the Institute for Anarchist Studies

ABOUT THE INSTITUTE FOR ANARCHIST STUDIES

The IAS was established as a nonprofit foundation in
1996 in order to support the development of anarchism
through a grant-giving program for radical writers. To
date, the IAS has funded over fifty projects by
authors and translators from around the world.

The IAS has grown significantly since its inception.
In addition to supporting projects like the Latin
American Archives Project and cosponsoring the
Renewing the Anarchist Tradition conference, the IAS
also publishes a biannual magazine, "Perspectives on
Anarchist Theory," as a forum in which to frame,
explore, and debate questions of significance to
contemporary anarchist theory and practice.

The IAS relies entirely on contributions from generous
individuals around the world to be able to carry out
its programs.
