NYC Buses to School of Americas Protest

This coming weekend, students from Columbia University will join
thousands of other peace activists and concerned citizens to protest the US Army School of the Americas in Ft. Benning, Georgia. The SOA is where the US uses our taxpayer money to train Latin American military personnel such as the infamous Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, the leaders of the death squad that murdered Archbishop Oscar Romero in El Salvador, and the paramilitaries who persecute trade unionists in Colombia today.

Please join People for Peace, the Columbia University/Morningside
Heights anti-war coalition, at this crucial demonstration against
militarism both here and in Latin America. This protest is legal and
permitted and is expected to have over 20,000 participants. Because of
the war situation, the army base is on high alert, but since the
organizers have recieved a permit for all the events, the risk of arrest is minimal.

A bus to Georgia will be leaving from 116th Street & Broadway at 2 pm on Saturday, November 17th. We will protest on Sunday and return by noon on Monday morning. Tickets are $95 round-trip (some financial
assistance is available for students and low-income people).

To reserve a ticket or for more information about the buses, email
soa@peopleforpeace.org or call 212-853-7992.
