Massachusetts Democracy School

Peter Kellman, Mary Zepernick and Adam Sacks

Boston, October 1–3, 2004

The POCLAD-inspired Center for Democracy & the Constitution is hosting a Democracy School at Boston College the first weekend in October.

Democracy School is a stimulating and illuminating course that teaches citizens and activists how to reframe exhausting and often discouraging single issue work (such as opposing toxic dumps, quarries, factory
farms, etc.) in a way that we can confront corporate control on a powerful single front: people's constitutional rights.Thomas Linzey of the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund (www.celdf.org) will join the Center for Democracy and the Constitution for our third Massachusetts Democracy School this year. Thomas is an
attorney at the forefront of legal battles against corporate constitutional rights — you can read more about his work on the CELDF website defending rural communities against corporate hog farms and toxic sludge.

Massachusetts Democracy School will be sponsored by the Center for Democracy and the Constitution in cooperation with the Program on Corporations, Law and Democracy (www.poclad.or) and CELDF.

Fee for the weekend is $275, with a group rate of $425 for two and $200 for each additional person. The fee includes all course materials and dinner on Saturday evening. Some scholarship money is available — please contact the office 508 398-1023 for further information.

October Democracy School will be taught by Peter Kellman, Mary Zepernick and Adam Sacks. The curriculum is online, or give us a call and we'll send you one.
