"Monument" single offered for use in protest

Leigh writes "The Heavenly States, a San Francisco-based band would like to offer any protesters who would like to use it access to their new single, entitled “Monument,” for use during protests scheduled for the upcoming Republican National Convention.

The band recorded “Monument” recently as part performance art, part protest. It is essentially the listing of the names of thousands of Iraqi civilians and others who have been killed during the current war. And I hope you will agree, it really is a powerful monument to those who have lost their lives, and a powerful anti-war statement. It's actually the "B" side of their upcoming single "King Epiphany," which is scheduled to be released by Baria Records in September.

Unfortunately, the band will not be able to participate in the protests in New York next week, mostly for financial reasons, but would like to make their music available to other protesters, for use as appropriate. I am hopeful that you will be as inspired by the power of “Monument” as I have been, and will find some way in which to integrate it into your actions. We will be sending copies of the single to other protesters as well, in the hope that it will be heard and used as the musicians who wrote it intended.

You can download the single here http://www.theheavenlystates.com/demo/Monument.mp3, or if you prefer, please write and we will overnight a CD copy to you. If you do plan on incorporating the single into the work you are doing, we would really appreciate hearing about it.

Thanks,

Leigh Bailey
