Critical Resistance Seeks Regional Coordinators

Job Opening: Organizer
Critical Resistance (CR), a national grassroots organization working to end
the prison industrial complex (PIC), seeks Regional Coordinators to staff
its New York and New Orleans offices.Responsibilities and duties
" Provide resources and support to CR chapters;
" Facilitate and support individuals in starting chapters;
" Research, develop, and support local campaigns and projects;
" Develop and maintain relationships with organizations and individuals
working against the PIC and related activism;
" Act as a resource for people in the region (e.g., providing speakers,
materials, resources);
" Work with national staff to strategize best practices for creating and
maintaining new chapters;
" Organize regional events and discussions;
" Participate in national and local working groups and decision-making;
" Maintain the Regional Office, including administrative responsibilities;
" Supervise/coordinate volunteers and interns;
Additional Qualifications
Qualifications:
“ Commitment to CR's mission;
" Experience in grassroots organizing against the PIC or related social
justice issues;
" Excellent written and oral communication skills;
" Must be a self-starter and work productively in an office as sole staff
person;
" Ability (and inclination) to manage an office;
" Willingness to travel;
" Willingness and ability to seek out relevant work and allies for building
partnerships and coalitions;
" Ability to balance multiple responsibilities well;
" Be accountable to multiple organizers in a non-hierarchical organization;
" Experience in coordinating interns and volunteers;
" Public speaking and training skills a plus;
" Basic computer skills (word processing, database a plus);
" Spanish language skills a plus;
" Former prisoners and people of color are especially encouraged to apply
Salary is $35,000 per year, plus good benefits and vacation.
