Five Anarchists Arrested in Barcelona, Spain, Sept. 16, 2003


Six anarchists were arrested the morning of September 16th in Barcelona and charged as
terrorists. Among other charges, they're being accused of sending a book-bomb, urban
terrorism, planning two assassinations, illegal possession of firearms, arson attacks,
belonging to a terrorist group, etc.Originally the arrested were 6, but after declaring
on Saturday 20th, one of them was released with minor charges. The others were sent to prison
without bail to await trial which could be years away.


The arrested are: Carolina F. R. and Rafael T. G. (from Tarragona); Joaquin G. V.
(from Jaca, in Huesca) and Igor Quevedo Aragay (from Arrasate in Gipuzkoa)
Roger G. P. (from Barcelona), and the now released Teodoro H.M. (from Arnedo, in La Rioja).


This is an ongoing process against the anarchist movement in Spain, which started almost a year
ago with the arrest of 4 people in Valencia, which was followed by four more 10 months
later. Repression also hit Barcelona with 4 arrests in February of this year and one
in the same operation in Almeria.
