San Francisco Autonomous Collective Targeted by State

"Direct Action Social Work Collective Targeted by the State
The Autonomous Collective, a anti-authoritarian anti-capitalist group
based in San Francisco, has recently come under police surveillance and
targeting. Two of it's African American members were singled out at
anti-war protest on February 16th and imprisoned, charged with felonies.
The Autonomous Collective is in need of financial support to continue
it's direct action social work in the style of OCAP. The Autonomous
Collective participates not only in direct action campaigns on various
issues but also works toward establishing autonomous social support
structures such as housing, food pantries and work collectives so that
people can live autonomously from capitalism. The Autonomous Collective
(AC) is currently involved in the following Direct Action campiagns:
1. Housing/Squats, the AC, opened a squat which housed over 30 people in
an affluent neighborhood of San Francisco for five months before being
evicted by the Police. There are smaller squats now in operation in an
attempt to keep people housed.
2. Guerrilla Gardening, the AC is working with local food activists to
develop guerrilla gardens in open spaces in San Francisco.
3. Food Not Bombs, the AC members actively participate in the Food Not
Bombs campaigns to end hunger in our cities and deconstruct the
militaristic economy. Additionally, members work with Mission Agenda to
develop food pantries which serve working poor communities.
4. Forest Defense, the AC members actively support and participate in
forest defense actions such as tree sitting and logging interference
with North Coast Earth First! in Humboldt County, California.
5. Anti-War Actions, the AC members actively participate in anti-war
actions based on the principles of anti-militarism and non-violent
direct action.
6. Anti-Oppression, the AC members actively participate in fighting
racism, sexism, homophobia and other forms of oppression. Members are
heavily involved with the queer rights anti-capitalist group, SF Gay
Shame which was recently brutally attacked by police at the local LGBTQ
Center.
7. Work Collective Hiring Hall, the AC members are the force behind the
establishment of a community hiring hall giving workers self-management,
this is being conducted with the assistance of the Industrial Workers of
the World.
We currently have four members that have pending court dates, 2 with
misdemeanor charges and 2 with felony charges, one with both.
