The financialization of the capitalist economy reflects the deep transformation of the form of capital accumulation which started at the end of the Seventies. It represents a new dispositif of appropriation of the surplus value that takes place in the spheres of circulation and reproduction. Financialization is, paradoxically, the adequate and perverted form of the capitalist mode of production in which life itself is put to work and in which the means of production, such as knowledge, cooperation and innovation, have been gradually transferred into the living body of labour-power.
